So I have a new webspace, and am in the progress of migrating my blog over to it at daily.kacornell.com. It’s really a dumping ground for my thoughts and things I find interesting or inspiring. All the old posts and comments are imported for reference and archive, though I’ll probably be vetting them as I work on the new setup. ’til later, then.
Cheers!

A beautiful TED talk on bees, and the tragedy that’s been befalling them.

…thank you. It’s my idea of a good time to file a collision claim on my insurance so I can, yet again, replace my bumper because of an accident that wasn’t my fault (at least it wasn’t an oversized semi rear-ending me this time). I love taking my car in for repairs and having to figure out how to juggle rentals or a family car loan so that I can get to the job that pays the bills.
Next time you decide to leave a dent the size of a large softball in my bumper, please be courteous and leave a note.
Best,
k-co

Everyone’s been blogging about Google’s archive of Life’s images. To add to the blog-o-verse, lovely images of the famous Egyptian dancer, Samia Gamal. From the hey-day of middle eastern dance glamour. Yes, I picked the one with the Lebenese headache for you, Lane. Thanks to Ozma for cluing me in.

One of my favorite podcasts, which had been on a long sabbatical, is back with two new episodes. As he says “It’s been a while, I know…” Just in time to make my day!
The History of Rome 34 No Greater Friend, No Worse Enemy
The History of Rome 35 Crassus and Pompey

I just stumbled on this site while looking for design reference for a friend’s web presence. It’s a gentleman named Liam who scans in pages from old books that live in the public domain (mostly) at high-res. Now, I love spending a Saturday afternoon in an old book store looking through woodcuts and ornamental typography as much as the next girl (or geek), but this From Old Books is the next best thing. Check it out!

The Simpson’s took on Apple the other night it’s quite hilarious. Also, it will probably make Lane Ellen feel better about her Mac angst.
Thanks, nmotlani!
